Thanks to its geology and geographical situation, the Ariège and Haute Garonne boast numerous thermo-mineral springs. They attract people seeking a cure for ailments and, increasingly, people on short stays for “remise en forme” or getting back into shape and generally relaxing and being pampered. The mineral content of each thermal station’s water is different and is reputed to have a beneficial effect on different ailments. The best known in the region are the beautiful thermal spa at Bagnères de Luchon and at Aulus-les-Bains both which are linked to their respective ski resorts of Superbagnères and Guzet so that skiers can soothe tired muscles after a day on the slopes.
